New Disney Movies!

I don’t know if you heard, but there is a rumor circulating the internet that Disney is doing a live-action movie of  ”Beauty and the Best”. I say rumor, as I have tried to trace it, but I only get to like ”gossip”-blogs and such, so please if anyone have seen an official statement from Disney about this please let me know!

Anyhow, according to the rumor the movie is just called ”The Beast” and Deadline states that it will be written by Joe  Ahearne (which I have seen nothing of what he has done before) and according to the Hollywood Reporter it will be directed by Bill Condon, who previously has directed Twilight: Breaking Dawn 1 &2.

The name ”The Beast” hints that maybe it will be a bit from the Beasts perspective? I mean Maleficient was from ”the other side” of the story, so maybe they are continuing the trend?

I understand many are scared about this movie, and I too has very strong band to the animated ”Beauty and the Best”, but I mean a new movie does not spoil the old one! I only hope they will not cast teenagers as Belle and the Beast (like they did in Maleficient).

And speaking of this live-action Disney, apparently I have been living under a rock because I have totally missed out on that they are releasing a live-action ”Cinderella” in 2015!

The plot is the following according to IMDB:

The story of ”Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella whose merchant father remarries following the tragic death of her mother. Keen to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine and her daughters Anastasia and Drizella into the family home. But, when Ella’s father suddenly and unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella since she used to work in the cinders, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to ”have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who abuse her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an employee at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears as if her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming ”Kit.” Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand as a kindly beggar woman steps forward and, armed with a pumpkin and a few mice, changes Cinderella’s life forever.

They seem to be wanting to come away from the old stories where the girl and prince meet once and then get married (like in Frozen or Maleficient), so I understand the thing about them meeting in the woods and Ella finally feels someone actually caring for her. I only wonder if the party for all the maids still is for the prince to find a bride? Because that feels very 19th century, can’t they just have a party?

Anyhow, the cast is pretty cool, the evil stepmother is Cate Blanchett, the prince i Richard Madden and the fairy godmother is Helena Boham-Carter!
It will be cool to see Helena as actually the nice one!

There is also a trailer, only thing that bugs me is that I wonder if the animators actually have seen a real shoe? I mean you could not wear those, you would not be able to stand straight in them!
